About

Prison Watch UK

Prison Watch UK provides news and analysis on British prisons. We aim to get to the truth hidden behind bars and explain why you should care.

Society knows what goes on in schools, hospitals and other public institutions but prisons and the darker corners of the criminal justice system remain secretive. The money we spend on criminal justice, and how well that reduces reofending, affects us all.

Our honest, fair and accurate reporting scrutinises policy and holds those in power to account. Social justice is at the heart of what we do.
